Afterschool Program Assistant
The ROE 47 Office of Professional Learning & Educational Services is seeking enthusiastic, dependable and caring individuals to serve as Afterschool Program Assistants for the ROE 47 Afterschool Program located at Sterling Township's Elevate Youth Center. The ROE 47 Afterschool Program serves middle school students from Challand Middle School and the Rock Falls Elementary School District, providing a safe, engaging and supportive environment where students receive homework assistance, participate in enrichment opportunities and develop the academic, social and life skills needed for success. Afterschool program Assistants work directly with students to create meaningful learning experiences while fostering positive youth development and a strong sense of belonging. Staff support students through academic assistance, enrichment programming, recreation, leadership development and social-emotional learning in a positive and welcoming environment. Responsibilities include supervising students, providing homework support, leading engaging activities, preparing materials, assisting with daily program operations, maintaining a safe and organized environment and collaborating with program staff to deliver high-quality afterschool experiences.
Location: Sterling Township's Elevate Youth Center, Sterling, Illinois
Employment Period: August 2026 - June School Year)
Schedule: Monday-Thursday, approximately 20 hours per week
Employment Status: Part-Time, Hourly
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Compensation: $16.00-$17.00 per hour, based on qualifications and experience.
Qualifications: Candidates should possess a high school diploma or GED (required), experience working with children or adolescents preferred, strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to build positive relationships with middle school students, dependability, flexibility and a collaborative mindset.
Requirements: Valid Illinois driver's license, successful completion of a criminal background check, ability to participate in active indoor and outdoor programming, ability to work consistently Monday through Thursday during scheduled program hours throughout the school year.
