Title: After School Care Program Caregiver
Position Purpose
The After School Program Caregiver is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for students participating in Nativity's after-school care program, Adventure Club. The caregiver supervises students, facilitates activities, assists with homework time, and ensures the well-being of all children in accordance with school policies and procedures.
Essential Functions:
- Supervises students during the after-school program, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Maintains a positive, welcoming, and respectful environment that reflects the Catholic school's mission and values.
- Organizes and supervises indoor and outdoor recreational activities.
- Monitors student behavior and implements appropriate discipline procedures consistent with school policies.
- Ensures students remain in designated areas and follow program expectations.
- Assists with snack distribution and monitors students during snack time.
- Maintains accurate attendance records and follows established student sign-in and sign-out procedures.
- Communicates student concerns, behavioral issues, injuries, or other incidents to the Principal as appropriate.
- Maintains a clean, organized, and safe program environment.
- Responds appropriately to emergencies and follows all school safety procedures.
- Assists with preparation and cleanup of activities, materials, and program spaces.
- Helps organize enrichment activities for participants.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

- Ability to supervise groups of students while maintaining a positive environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding students and families.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to remain calm and exercise good judgment in a variety of situations.
- Ability to work collaboratively with school staff, parents, and students.
- Basic knowledge of child development and age-appropriate behavior management practices.
- Works in a standard school environment and outdoors during varying weather conditions.
- May be required to stand, walk, bend, lift, and actively supervise students for extended periods.
- Must be able to respond quickly in emergency situations.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate's degree or coursework in education, child development, or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience working with children in a school, childcare, camp, parish, or recreational setting preferred.
- Experience supervising groups of elementary-age children preferred.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain certification.
- Ability to successfully complete all diocesan and school-required background checks and safe environment training (VIRTUS).
