Essential duties and responsibilities include:NASA's new mission to demonstrate deep-space nuclear-electric propulsion will adapt Gateway's Power and Propulsion Element (PPE) to be used with the Space Reactor-1 (SR-1) Freedom as its structural and propulsion foundation.
The selected candidate will support the modification and redefinition of requirements and their verification and validation (V&V) in support of the changes needed to the PPE. SR-1 is planned to launch in December 2028 and is the NASA spacecraft that will provide a path to future higher power and longer duration missions.The selected candidate will support PPE requirements definition, and their V&V. Primary responsibilities will include:Ensure the system requirements are accurately and thoroughly definedDefine verification methods for all requirementsCoordinate subsystem and system level test planning for requirement closure criteriaEnsure validation of mission requirements and concept of operationsSupport collaboration between the relevant NASA Centers and PPE industry partnersThe selected candidate will support the PPE Lead Requirements SE and the PPE SE&I team.
