Hands-On Technician PositionCUBRC's Ahmic Aerospace location is seeking a hands-on technician to support the fabrication and integration of precision sensors for extreme aerospace test environments. This role involves fine-scale work with thermocouples, micro wiring, and sensor assemblies used in cutting-edge hypersonic research.Responsibilities:Fabricate high-precision coaxial thermocouples using micro-TIG welding, rotary swaging, and ceramic airbrushing on fine-gauge wires (30–40 AWG)Operate vacuum deposition systems (magnetron sputtering) to apply controlled thin-film layers to sensor assembliesInstrument and build up wind tunnel test articles by installing, aligning, potting, and securing sensors with high precisionRoute, label, and solder micro-scale wire and cable assemblies, including integration of miniature connectorsPerform electronic checkout and validation of sensor installations to ensure functionality prior to wind tunnel testingAssist with static load calibration of complex force measurement systems, calibrate force measurement balances, and inspect subsystem equipmentRequirements:Demonstrated experience with fine-scale soldering (down to 40 AWG wire, 0.010" dia. solder points) and cable preparationHands-on proficiency with micro-TIG welding, swaging, or vacuum deposition systems preferredStrong attention to detail and manual dexterity for working with delicate components and small geometriesFamiliarity with instrumentation, electronic checkout, and basic PCB assemblyAbility to interpret and follow detailed work instructions, technical drawings, and engineering specificationsPersonal Attributes: Ability to work effectively and cooperatively in a small team environment.
