Adyen Configuration & Payment Optimization Consultant (Fully Remote)

About This Role

Our retail client is seeking an Adyen Configuration and Payment Optimization Consultant for an immediate and fully remote engagement. This role is critical to ensuring a secure and frictionless e-commerce payment experience ahead of the peak holiday season. You will leverage your deep expertise in Adyen Protect and fraud-rule configuration to optimize our client’s payment-processing system, balancing fraud prevention with customer experience. This is a remote consulting opportunity for an initial 3-month engagement, starting as soon as possible.

What You Will Work On

• Assess current Adyen fraud-prevention rule configurations and identify critical gaps.
• Redesign and refine fraud rules to reduce both fraud exposure and false declines.
• Analyze payment data, trends, and exceptions to configure optimized Adyen settings tailored to client’s transaction patterns.
• Collaborate with the client’s fraud management team to develop a sustainable strategy and executable roadmap for fraud control.
• Provide practical guidance and training to internal teams for self-sufficiency in managing Adyen Protect post-engagement.
• Ensure compliance and accuracy while enhancing approval rates and minimizing operational disruption during peak transaction periods.

What You Will Bring

• Proven Adyen Expertise: Hands-on experience with Adyen Protect and fraud-rule configuration is required.
• Ability to customize rule sets to address platform-specific behaviors (not merely replicate prior processor settings).
• Strong knowledge of payment optimization strategies for e-commerce channels; prior collaboration with fraud audit SMEs is a plus.
• Robust analytical and problem-solving skills to balance fraud prevention with legitimate transaction approvals.
• Excellent communication skills for clear stakeholder updates and solution documentation.
• Preferred Background: Experience supporting high-volume retail/e-commerce environments during critical transaction windows.
• Education/Certifications: Not formally required if experience is extensive and specialized in Adyen and payment risk management.
