Advising Administrative Assistant (Chesapeake Campus)The Advising Administrative Assistant provides frontline, administrative, and clerical support to the Advising and Student Success Office and reports to the campus' Advising and Student Success Coordinator. Functional Responsibilities include providing detailed information to students, staff, and the public regarding college programs, policies, and procedures; triaging students and other internal and external customers to assess and meet their needs; providing proficient and direct customer service, both face-to-face and virtual, in a high-paced office environment; maintaining, retrieving, and purging confidential student records; scanning and linking files in the document imaging system; making updates in the Student Information System (including advisor assignments and curriculum changes); inventorying and maintaining office storage and supplies; and creating and updating databases and other recordkeeping systems.Special Assignments may include performing other duties as assigned and assisting the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.Required Qualifications include experience providing direct customer service in a high-paced environment, demonstrated ability to assist the public in a courteous and helpful manner, demonstrated ability to work independently and collaborate with administrators, faculty, and staff, demonstrated ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing, demonstrated skills in the use of contemporary computer application software, to include word processing and spreadsheets, and other information technology applications such as those that manage college student information data, knowledge of state and federal policies, to include FERPA, and knowledge of college policies and procedures.
