QuarterLine (QL), a Planned Systems International (PSI) Company, is seeking a skilled Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (Gastroenterology) to provide gastrointestinal specialty care at Ft Hood Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center and its associated local locations. The role involves evaluating patients, developing and implementing treatment plans, and coordinating care with physicians and multidisciplinary teams.

The ideal candidate will bring strong clinical judgment, recent hands‑on gastroenterology experience, and a commitment to safe, evidence‑based patient care in both outpatient and inpatient settings. Candidates should value collaboration, clear communication, accurate documentation, and service in a mission‑focused military treatment facility. They must be comfortable working flexible shifts – including days, evenings, weekends, holidays, or adjusted schedules – as mission needs require and must meet all privileging, credentialing, licensure, certification, and onboarding requirements before providing services.

Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

  • Prescribe and treat a variety of gastrointestinal diseases, disorders, and injuries.
  • Apply knowledge of the medical, biological, and physical sciences related to the gastrointestinal specialty area.
  • Recognize emergency conditions and diagnose, prescribe for, and treat diseases, disorders, and injuries.
  • Perform routine physical examinations and manage moderately complex acute and chronic illnesses in both outpatient and inpatient settings.
  • Perform initial patient work‑up and assessment of patient care and treatment.
  • Determine the need for and order laboratory tests, x‑rays, and other procedures required for complete patient assessment.
  • Distinguish between normal and abnormal findings to recognize early stages of serious physical, emotional, or mental problems.
  • Provide surveillance of adherence to established gastroenterology policies and procedures to stabilize chronically ill patients.
  • Adjust regimens within established protocols, recognizing when to refer the patient to a gastroenterologist or primary care manager for other medical issues.
  • Make decisions concerning the gastroenterology needs of patients in collaboration with physicians.
  • Work collaboratively with physicians in patient management, evaluation, and revision of therapeutic plans.
  • Complete all necessary outpatient record entries, progress notes, admission/discharge paperwork, and dictate narrative summaries (as required) within CRDAMC MTF policies and regulations.
  • Ensure inpatient treatment documents and narrative summaries are countersigned by the attending physician.
  • Provide full range of emergency services or crisis interventions in the absence of the physician, including lifesaving emergency procedures.
  • Maintain responsibility for an assigned panel of patients in the outpatient clinic.
  • Occasionally provide preceptorship and/or teaching for candidate physician extenders, students, residents, fellows, technicians, and volunteers.

Minimum Requirements

  • US Citizen.
  • Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or doctoral degree (DNP) from an accredited nursing specialty program recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience after education and licensing, within the last 4 years.
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner.
  • Certified in the specialty as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Possess NPI, BLE, and DEA registration numbers.
  • Past experience and practice must be in FNP, ACPCNP, or AGACNP with hands‑on knowledge and experience related to gastrointestinal specialties and patient care.
  • Professional Certification(s):
    • Certified in the specialty as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), or another recognized national nursing certification organization for the specialty area of practice, as appropriate.
    • National Provider Identifier (NPI) from CMMS.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by AHA or American Red Cross.
    • Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration number.

Additional Information

  • Must pass TB test.
  • Subject to a background/security investigation.
  • Willingness to comply with DHA vaccination requirements.
  • Willingness to complete a physical examination.
  • Pre‑employment drug screening required.
  • Required to wear PPE during performance of services.
  • Capable of walking and standing for long periods, stretching, crouching, bending, stooping, lifting up to 50 lbs, and lifting over 50 lbs with assistance.
  • Exposure to infection disease, toxic, hazardous, or irritating chemicals, carcinogenic materials, noxious fumes, flammable liquids, radiation, pathogenic bacteria, electric hazards.
  • Contract workers should maintain good personal hygiene and a well‑groomed professional appearance in accordance with policy at the place of performance.
