Summary Statement
The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse plays a pivotal role in evaluating incarcerated individuals for early medical release under Delaware’s Compassionate release framework. This includes reviewing medical records, reviewing assessments, conferring with medical staff and preparing clinical summaries and prognoses that inform sentence modification decisions. The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse ensures evaluations are consistent with Delaware law, DOC policy and ethical standards of care.
Preferred Qualification
- Applicants who do not possess the preferred qualification will still be eligible to compete for this position if job requirements are met.
- Knowledge of Advanced Pathophysiology and Pharmacology to assess treatment plans for disease processes
- Experience in chart reviews for regulatory compliance and healthcare standards as they relate to a facility’s ability to provide care for patients.
- Experience in healthcare quality assurance, process improvement, evidence-based practice, or related roles.
Essential Functions
- Provides or evaluates direct nursing care.
- Develops, implements and/or reviews nursing care plans.
- Provides health care instruction and guidance to individuals, families, community groups and/or nursing home facilities in the management of their health care needs.
- Maintains an effective working relationship with other members of the treatment team.
- Prepares and submits records, reports, evaluations and forms.
- Participates in and make recommendations regarding quality assurance activities.
Job Requirements
- Possession of a Delaware Advanced Practice Registered Nurse license or temporary permit for a Delaware Advanced Practice Registered Nurse license in Family Nurse Practitioner.
