nJob Summary – Physician Assistant/ Nurse Practitioner
nAFC Urgent Care Stamford is seeking a skilled, compassionate, and motivated Physician Assistant to join our fast-paced urgent care and occupational medicine team. In this role, you will provide high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals of all ages presenting with acute illnesses, injuries, and workplace-related conditions.
nThis position offers the opportunity to practice broad-spectrum urgent care while also supporting our growing Occupational Medicine and DOT Physical program. The ideal candidate is confident, efficient, and comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with supervising physicians and clinical staff.
nResponsibilities
nPerform comprehensive patient evaluations including medical history, physical examination, and clinical assessment
nDiagnose and treat acute illnesses and minor injuries such as respiratory infections, fractures, lacerations, sprains, and other urgent care presentations
nOrder, perform, and interpret diagnostic testing including labs, EKGs, and X-rays
nPerform common urgent care procedures such as suturing, incision and drainage, splinting, wound care, and foreign body removal
nConduct Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examinations (FMCSA) or obtain Medical Examiner certification within 3 months of hire
nProvide Occupational Medicine services including work-related injury evaluation and treatment, workers’ compensation cases, return-to-work clearances, and employer-required physicals
nAdminister medications, vaccinations, injections, and treatments according to clinical protocols
nMaintain accurate and timely documentation in the Experity electronic health record (EHR) system
nEnsure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, CLIA, FMCSA, and infection control standards
nProvide clear discharge instructions and patient education
nSupport clinic flow and operational efficiency while maintaining excellent patient experience
nQualifications
nExperience in urgent care, emergency medicine, or primary care preferred
nANCC, AANP, or NCCPA Board Certified – (with 1 yr ER/UC experience preferred)
nActive and current Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner licensure in the state of practice, DEA number, and state-controlled substance certificate, as required
nAbility to perform urgent care procedures including suturing, splinting, wound care, and phlebotomy
nWillingness to become a certified FMCSA DOT Medical Examiner within 3 months of hire if not already certified
nFamiliarity with Occupational Medicine and workers’ compensation cases preferred
nProficiency with electronic medical records; Experity experience is a plus
nStrong clinical judgment and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
nExcellent communication skills and a patient-first approach Able to multi-task and work independently
