Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Performing in-depth patient evaluations, ordering tests, and developing tailored care protocols
- Diagnosing and treating acute, episodic, or chronic conditions in partnership with physicians or on your own (depending on your credentials)
- Providing education to patients and families concerning prevention, wellness, and chronic disease management
- Prescribing appropriate medications and therapies within your scope of practice
- Engaging in patient follow-up and chronic care management initiatives
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care
- Meticulously documenting patient information within electronic health records (EHR)
Qualifications for Success
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)
- Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
Certifications Required
- Current Nurse Practitioner license in the state of Texas
- National certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C, AANP, or ANCC) or an equivalent specialty
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications (or ability to acquire within 90 days)
