Townhead Surgery, Irvine is seeking a 4-8 session experienced Primary Care Advanced Nurse Practitioner to complement our existing team. The number of sessions and days are flexible for the right candidate. We are a 10-partner training practice with approximately 12,000 patients, operating from health-board owned premises centrally located within Ayrshire; an easy 30 minute commute from the Southside of Glasgow.
We have a dynamic and forward-thinking team, complemented by two salaried GPs, an experienced senior ANP, a practice nurse, two general practice pharmacists and an experienced and versatile healthcare assistant team. We work closely with our health board-employed pharmacy team, advanced physiotherapy practitioner, CTAC nurses, mental health practitioner, community link worker and income advisor. We are well supported by a dedicated and enthusiastic administrative and practice management team.
Team and development
We have many years of experience of ANPs integrated within our clinical team. We offer a comprehensive and highly structured induction programme. Our highly valued ANPs work directly alongside our GPs through an on-the-day triage first system, but as a large practice there is also opportunity to have additional areas of specialist interest and professional development. Regular long-term structured support with a named GP mentor is provided to facilitate continuous ongoing individualised advancement.
Approach and culture
Our focus is teamwork and to be supportive of one another. We strive to be inclusive and open, and encourage input from all our team members. We run regular Clinical Meetings for all clinicians which helps with CPD. We are an established GP Training Practice with 3 trainers and an excellent record of success. Townhead Surgery is regularly involved with tutoring University of Glasgow medical students, with very positive feedback.
Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, effective, high-quality, person-centred care.
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills and use own initiative, clinical judgement and decision making.
- Engage in telephone triage, telephone consultations and advice calls in addition to face-to-face consultations.
- Work within the on-the-day triage system and contribute to service development as a senior clinician.
Qualifications and requirements
- Primary care Advanced Nurse Practitioner with scope for 4-8 sessions; flexible for right candidate.
- Experience in telephone triage and advice calls; ability to manage triage, clinical decision making and patient safety.
- Appropriate qualifications including V300 preferred.
