Advanced Leak Detection Driver and Survey Technician
Position located in Alabama, U.S.; Remote within the state with up to 50% travel.
Reporting to: Field Service Team Leader.
Position Overview
The primary role is to collect data on potential emissions from natural gas utility facilities, conduct field investigations, and operate specialized leak detection equipment. Responsibilities include driving an SUV with methane/ethane sensors, performing on‑foot inspections, analyzing data with advanced software, and generating detailed reports.
Approximately 80% driving surveys; 20% on‑foot follow‑ups. Up to 50% overnight travel.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive and operate advanced mobile leak detection equipment (mid‑size SUV with methane/ethane sensor and related gear).
- Conduct surveys and inspections to detect, grade, and log emissions.
- Collect data and prepare detailed reports.
- Operate company vehicle and use cell phone/software to complete tasks efficiently.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; prior leak survey or natural gas industry experience preferred.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Ability to walk, bend, kneel, stand, and lift up to 25 lbs; work outdoors in all weather.
- Proficiency with computers and relevant software.
- Permanent U.S. work authorization.
- Pass evaluation to become Operator Qualified; training provided.

Annual salary range: $42,000 – $67,200.
