Sanford Health is seeking a BC/BE Advanced Heart Failure Cardiologist to join their integrated practice within the Sanford Cardiovascular Institute. This role involves participating in the development of LVAD and ECMO programs, managing inpatient ECMO, LVAD, and cardiogenic shock, and maintaining a robust general non-invasive cardiology practice. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to a well-established heart failure program and engage in clinical education and research.
Practice Info
- Integrated practice including a team of 9 cardiologists, 1 of whom is Advanced Heart Failure Certified, and 3 Cardiothoracic Surgeons
- Group provides service to inpatient, clinic, and outreach locations with nurse practitioner support
- Join a group with a well-established heart failure program
- Team participates in over 20 clinical trials, encourages and supports research endeavors, and regularly presents at national meetings
- Program includes opportunity for clinical education and research with general and interventional cardiology fellowships in a university health setting
Responsibilities
- Participate in the development of a LVAD and ECMO program
- Management of inpatient ECMO, LVAD, and cardiogenic shock
- Maintain a robust general non-invasive cardiology practice including dedicated advanced heart failure and pulmonary hypertension outpatient clinics
- Provide consultation and longitudinal outpatient management of advanced heart failure disease patients, as well as those with acute and durable mechanical support devices
- Perform history and physical examination, admit, evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide treatment or consultative services for adult patients presenting with diseases of the heart, lungs, and blood vessels

Requirements
- BC/BE in Advanced Heart Failure Cardiology
- M.D. or D.O. degree
- Successful completion of a hospital affiliated Internal Medicine residency program
- Completion of a fellowship in Cardiology accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada in the residency
- Certification by the appropriate specialty/subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable
- If not board certified at the time of application but completed fellowship training within the last five years, must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of fellowship training
- Experience in medical device management of advanced heart failure patients is ideal
