Advanced Heart Failure & Transplant Cardiologist

The University of Rochester Medical Center is seeking a board-eligible or board-certified Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant (AHFT) cardiologist to join its growing academic Advanced Heart Failure Program within the Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiology. This role offers a broad academic practice in AHFT, providing comprehensive care for patients with advanced heart failure, cardiogenic shock, heart transplantation, and mechanical circulatory support. The successful candidate will join an established team and have opportunities for career development in clinical excellence, education, investigation, program development, and academic leadership.

Practice Info

• Join an established team of 7 Advanced Heart Failure cardiologists and 3 cardiac transplant/mechanical circulatory support surgeons.
• Faculty participate in the dedicated Advanced Heart Failure inpatient service, outpatient Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant clinics, and transplant and LVAD selection conferences.
• Opportunities are available to develop focused clinical or academic interests in heart transplantation, LVAD/MCS, cardiogenic shock, pulmonary hypertension, cardio-oncology, adult congenital heart disease, clinical research, quality improvement, donor utilization, and transplant innovation.
• The program has performed more than 400 heart transplants since inception and has an established DCD heart transplantation program.
• One of the largest durable LVAD programs in the region, with over 1,000 durable LVAD implantations and approximately 300 patients currently supported.
• Dedicated 22-bed Cardiac Intensive Care Unit staffed by cardiac critical care intensivists and a highly experienced multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient and outpatient advanced heart failure care.
• Provide heart transplantation care.
• Provide durable and temporary mechanical circulatory support.
• Manage cardiogenic shock.
• Perform hemodynamic assessment.
• Conduct multidisciplinary evaluation of patients for advanced therapies.
• Teach cardiovascular disease fellows, residents, and medical students.
• Engage in teaching, research, quality improvement, and other scholarly activities.

Compensation

• Compensation: $400,000 - $575,000 a year
• Individual salaries will be determined within the job's salary range and established based on (but not limited to) market data, experience and expertise of the individual, and with consideration to related position salaries.
• Alignment of clinical incentive-based compensation may also be applicable and will be discussed during the hiring process.

Qualifications

• M.D. Degree or equivalent
• Must obtain a New York State Medical License prior to start date
• Eligible for a Faculty Appointment at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry
• Must meet all credentialing requirements
• Eligible for Board Certification in Cardiovascular Disease and Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology
• Post offer Drug Screen and Health Assessment required
• Compliance with University and New York State health requirements
