Adult Psychiatrist

Jackson and Coker is seeking a part-time Adult Psychiatrist for an outpatient locum tenens position in a community mental health clinic in the California Bay Area. This role involves providing medication management and psychiatric evaluations to a diverse patient population with moderate to severe mental illness and substance use disorders. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in community mental health and a patient-centered, harm reduction-focused approach.

Practice Info

• Adult outpatient psychiatry
• Community mental health clinic
• Approximately 30 current patients, with an ideal panel of approximately 50 patients
• Mix of medication management and psychiatric evaluations
• Patients with moderate to severe mental illness and substance use disorders

Responsibilities

• Provide medication management
• Conduct psychiatric evaluations
• Work independently and proactively within a community mental health setting

Shift & Schedule

• 1 day per week, approximately 8 hours per day
• Typical schedule is 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday
• Flexible regarding which day of the week the psychiatrist works
• 100% onsite
• September 2026 start preferred, with the ability to begin as soon as credentialing is complete

Requirements

• Board Certification required
• Comfortable working within an electronic health record
• Experience working with moderate to severe mental illness and substance use disorders is highly valued
• Strong preference for a psychiatrist who takes a harm reduction focused and patient centered approach
• Comfortable working independently and proactively within a community mental health setting
• Minimum 3 month commitment preferred, with potential for ongoing coverage
