Adolescent Psychiatrist

Jackson & Coker is seeking an Adolescent Psychiatrist for a locum tenens assignment in Tennessee, covering from October 2026 to January 2027 with potential for extension. This role involves providing on-site psychiatric care to adolescent patients (ages 13-17) in an inpatient setting. The psychiatrist will join a comprehensive team to manage a diverse caseload, focusing on evaluations, treatment orders, and team collaboration.

Practice Info

• Assignment covers Adult Inpatient, Adult Detox Inpatient, Older Adult Inpatient, and Adolescent Inpatient services
• Outpatient programs include PHP and IOP for adults and IOP for adolescents
• Current medical staff includes 4 full-time psychiatrists, 3 full-time PMHNPs, and 4 PRN psychiatrists
• Average daily census: 95-110 patients
• Average length of stay: 7.8 days
• Bed count: 130

Responsibilities

• Complete psychiatric evaluations and discharge summaries initiated by NP
• Issue restrictive intervention orders
• Issue admission and discharge orders
• Attend treatment team meetings with NP providers
• Manage attending responsibility for up to 44 patients with support from 2 APRN/PMHNP providers
• Supervise up to 32-34 patients
• Independently manage approximately 14-18 cases

Shift & Schedule

• October 19, 2026 – January 22, 2027, with potential extension available
• 8 hours per day, 5 days per week
• Monday-Friday schedule
• On-site coverage only; no telehealth
• On-call coverage required one night per week

Requirements

• Board certified or board eligible
• Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist or General Psychiatrist willing to see adolescent patients (ages 13-17)
