Summit Oaks has repeatedly been recognized in U.S. News & World Report, as one of the nation's best behavioral health hospitals.Position Summary: The Admissions Registrar is responsible for coordinating aspects of the admissions process.
This includes but is not limited to efficient and effective handling of inquiry calls, processing of referrals for possible admission, knowledge of and communication with referral sources and customers who present for assessment. Additional responsibilities may include insurance verification, patient registration process, vitals, wanding, patient observations, scheduling of evaluations, admissions processing, bed board monitoring, belongings searches, and other non-clinical duties as assigned by admissions leadership team.QualificationsEducation: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, mental health, or a related field OR Master's degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, mental health, or related field, or RN degree. CNA or RN Licensure/Certification/Registration preferred.Experience: A minimum of one-three year of experience in a human service, social service, psychiatric, mental health or Call Center setting, performing administrative duties to include but not limited to crisis intervention, telephonic triage, and managing inquiry calls with a specialized focus on customer service.Essential Job DutiesFacilitates the Assessment and Referral process by getting AOC approvals, doctor's assignments, and precertification's from insurance companiesKnowledge of EMTALA/the legal implications of admissions process, consistently communicating effectively to initially determine whether or not a patient is able to give express and informed consentCompletes all aspects of a screening and referral process accurately and thoroughly utilizing all Department programs and applications with proficiencyKnowledge of the Mental Health Law and how it impacts patientsRecords inquiries call information completely and accurately, to include clinical and medical information, patient demographics, legal status, payor information and call disposition.Follows all inquiry calls to disposition and communicates dispositions to referral sourceHandles all inquiry calls with respect and dignity in a timely manner.
Manages and processes incoming ER referrals within designated timeframes.Demonstrates ability to process an inquiry call to include; reviewing clinical data to determine program eligibilityAbility to sell facility programs effectivelyReferring patients for appropriate servicesAssessing patient's legal statusEvaluating and documenting a patient's legal statusEvaluating and documenting a patient's ability to give express and informed consentObtaining insurance verification and/or private pay ratesReviewing case with the department manager or directorObtaining pre certifications from insurance companies for admissionsScheduling assessments and admissionMaintains daily census log and/or MS4 Electronic Bedboard to accurately reflect real time admissions and discharges in the facility.Other duties as assignedBenefits: Career development opportunities across UHS and its 300+ locations!
