Join a team that values compassion, excellence, and teamwork while providing high-quality emergency care.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesStand and greet all patients as they arrive in a friendly, courteous, and professional mannerDemonstrate and maintain a working knowledge of customer service principles, and departmental expectations regarding customer serviceRoutinely check and respond to work e-mailDocument in the computer system all necessary demographic, insurance, and financial informationMaintain patient charts, including creating new files, scanning files into the computer system, filing, shifting, and breaking down chartsResponsible for photocopying records and documents for billing purposesPerform clerical duties, including mail delivery, faxing, copying, and scanningResponsible for answering, screening, and directing incoming phone callsCollect co-payments or other applicable financial paymentsPerforms exit interviews with all patientsFacilitate daily deposits and perform cash reconciliationsMaintain daily financial log including documenting patient financial class, amount owed, amount collected, and scanning completionMaintain daily patient log including documenting chief complaint, time and date of entry, time and date of exit, services rendered, and discharge/transfer informationDocument patient volumes for the previous dayMaintain and compile reports and informational packets for distributionPerform any job related to the registration processParticipate in performance improvement activities as necessaryPerform other duties as assignedSafety/Infection ControlDemonstrate knowledge of and adhere to regulations and Emergency Center policies and procedures pertaining to safety, emergency preparedness, infection control, OSHA, fire safety and hazardous materialsCustomer ServiceMaintain confidentiality of patient related issues and adhering to all HIPAA rules and regulations.Demonstrate effective interpersonal skillsTreat all patients, visitors, and staff members fairly and with respect and strive to make them comfortable by offering refreshments.Utilize effective communication methods in an accurate, courteous, and professional manner.Explain all procedures, treatments, and care while remaining aware of language barriersAble to perform care in non-judgmental manner and recognize discrepancies between patient and personal beliefsEmergency Center PolicyEnsure personal appearance is business casual and professional at all timesResponsible for wearing Emergency Center identification badge at all times which must be visible and above the waistlineAttend all Emergency Center required meetings and in-service educationRemain flexible in staffing patterns and resolution of staffing conflicts; participates in temporary assignmentsCompliance with attendance standardsDemonstrate flexibility when changes in assignments are necessaryRequirementsEducation & ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent1-3 years office experience in a health care setting preferredPrevious customer service experience preferredMust be able to effectively communicate with customers both in person, and over the telephoneMust have understanding of basic medical terminologyLanguage/Math/Reasoning AbilityAbility to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organizationAbility to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distanceAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
