Adjunct Pool - Communication Department

Basic Function

Under the direction of the Dean, Department Chair or Program Director, the Adjunct Faculty Member is responsible for providing academic instruction to students for the assigned undergraduate and/or graduate courses.

Representative Duties

• Provide academic instruction through lecture, lab or performance courses; assess students and develop abilities.
• Advise students regarding programs of study and study skills, refer to support services.
• Observe and evaluate student performance; provide feedback timely.
• Plan and organize instruction according to approved outlines; implement objectives.
• Maintain accurate records and submit data and reports.
• Evaluate and select instructional materials; order materials.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Knowledge Of

• Current theory and practice within the subject discipline.
• Principles and best practices of effective teaching.

Ability To

• Demonstrate thorough and accurate knowledge in the subject field.
• Deliver course curricula in various learning styles.
• Exhibit sensitivity to diverse students and disabilities.
• Integrate current and emerging instructional technologies.
• Maintain confidentiality professional standards.
• Communicate effectively orally and in writing.

Minimum Qualifications

Possession of a master’s degree from a graduate institution of recognized standing or equivalent experience and professional recognition.

Physical Abilities

• Manual dexterity; speaking; sitting or standing extended periods; pushing, pulling, lifting light objects; bending and reaching.
• Indoor classroom environment; subject to visiting a variety of classroom sites on campus.
