Adjunct Instructor of Graphic Design, Digital ImagingSchool of Humanities, Education, and the Arts - TNOverviewLevel: Experienced Position Type: Adjunct Instructor Job Shift: Any Education Level: Master's Degree Travel Percentage: Negligible Category: EducationDescriptionGraphic Design Digital Imaging AdjunctHours Per Week: 6 hoursJob Type: Part-time faculty appointment with one semester teaching contractInternal Job Category: Adjunct FacultyPosition Purpose: Cumberland University invites applicants to teach a Digital Imaging course for the Spring 2024 semester. The Digital Imaging course introduces methods of digital photo editing and retouching, as well as photographic image manipulation. Students create original artwork through digital photography, using computers and appropriate software.

Compositing, photo collages, and special effects using filters are stressed. Applicants with a graphic design background and experience are preferred.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Be proficient in Photoshop and other Adobe software.Must be able to communicate well with students and other faculty membersDemonstrate a strong understanding of concepts in art and fundamentals of designEngage in class and student assessment while maintaining all necessary paperwork and records based on Program Director requirementsCollaborate with colleagues in both program and field advancement activities such as creative and/or scholarly involvementExperience in supervising facilities and students in a 2D and/or 3D environmentDemonstrate organizational skills for curriculum management and program design including analysis of data for continuous improvementPossess ability to contribute positively to a dynamic setting with collaborative facultyExperience:Two or more years teaching experience in Art Understanding, Drawing, Painting, Photography, Digital Imaging, Graphic Design, Ceramics, or other 2D/3D processesDocumentation of successful experience as an undergraduate professorEvidence of successful career in related fieldExperience and network in the Middle Tennessee region preferred but not necessaryEducation:MFA PreferredAdditional Information: Completed application will include:Letter of interestUpdated and detailed curriculum vitaePortfolio including 20 images of recent workPortfolio including 20 images of student workNames and contact information of three professional references (letters of recommendation are requested once finalists are chosen)Cumberland University is a teaching-focused and student-centered bachelor's and master's level university.
