Adjunct Machinist and Millwright InstructorThe Adjunct Machinist and Millwright Instructor has responsibilities that include, but are not limited to, classroom and lab instruction of teaching students the skills and knowledge necessary for installing, maintaining, and repairing machinery and equipment, as well as operating machine tools to fabricate parts. This role includes preparing students for careers in manufacturing, maintenance, and heavy industry. Assigned classes may occur during the day, evening, and/or online with varying teaching locations including on-campus, dual enrollment, and Early College High School.
This position reports to LSCPA's Business and Industrial Technology Department.Duties/ResponsibilitiesProvide quality instructionExhibit commitment and involvement in the development, implementation, and assessment of curriculum based on program, department and college goals and objectivesAttend faculty meetingsMaintain current knowledge, expertise, and safety in the subject areas of teaching responsibility along with broader higher education matters and trendsRespond to students, faculty and staff in a timely and professional mannerComply with campus policies and proceduresOther related duties, as assignedMinimum/Preferred QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:Associate's degree in relevant field preferred, but employment and/or teaching experience may possibly be substituted for a portion the education requirementFive (5) years of demonstrated work experience in the field or teaching experienceExpertise in operating and maintaining machine tools (lathes, mills, grinders, etc.), CNC machines, and understanding safety practicesWork independently in the classroomProficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPointPossess great time management and communication skillsValid driver's licensePreferred Qualifications:Associate's degree in relevant fieldTeaching experience in higher educationExperience with Blackboard or other computerized teaching systemsTeaching experience at a two-year collegeSupplemental InformationPhysical Requirements: Duties may include standing, walking, bending, reaching, and occasional lifting or moving of equipment or materials up to 25 pounds. Visual and auditory acuity are required to ensure effective instruction and safe supervision of students in classroom and field settings.
