Job Description:

The Adjunct – Information Systems Technology position providesquality instruction and maintains a positive learning environmentin the classroom, with major emphasis placed on teaching,supporting and evaluating students. The Adjunct role providesinstruction and monitors teaching/learning effectiveness in coursesassigned by the Department Chair, or other leadership members. Theadjunct must exhibit strong organizational skills and the abilityto multitask while engaging large groups of people with complicatedmaterial.

Instruction & Student Learning

  • Teaches assigned courses as scheduled and assumes primaryresponsibility for and exercises oversight of the curriculum inconjunction with Department policies, ensuring both the rigor ofprograms and the quality of instruction.
  • Considers individual differences of students in order to design and support a range of appropriate learning activities.Participates in the identification of students with academic orother needs and responds by utilizing an appropriateresource.
  • Uses technology in a manner appropriate to the nature andobjectives of courses and programs and communicates clearly tostudents the expectations concerning the use of suchtechnology.
  • Keeps accurate and appropriate records in accordance withdepartmental policies.
  • Maintains attendance records, determines and submits gradestimely, and in accordance with established policies and proceduresof the College, and communicates progress feedback as well as otherrelevant information to students throughout the semester.
  • Distributes and maintains accurate syllabi that incorporatesdepartmental, college, cross-college, and instructor requirements.Conducts classes punctually and in accordance with the prescribedmeeting schedule.
  • Employs appropriate assessment techniques to measurestudents’ performance in achieving course goals andobjectives.
  • Engages in periodic meetings with the department, LeadInstructor, and Chairperson relative to teaching duties andprofessional development.

Student Engagement & Advisement

  • Creates a positive classroom atmosphere that encouragesactive and collaborative learning, student effort, academicchallenge, student and faculty interaction, and support forlearners.
  • Maintains posted office hours in accordance withdepartmental and policies of the College.
  • Uses technology to assist in communication withstudents.
  • Encourages a sense of community among students for learningboth inside and outside the classroom.
  • Refers students to appropriate student and academic supportservices available at the College or in the community.

  • Fosters and maintains a safe environment of respect andinclusion for faculty, staff, students, and members of thecommunity.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with at least twoyears of relative job experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Some experienceteaching/coaching/mentoring at any level.
  • Combination of experience working in traditional full stackweb development. Experience with HTML, CSS, PHP, JS, Git, AWS,Agile, Docker, Web database technologies.
  • Additional Information: Opportunities are available forteaching days, evenings, or weekends.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Classroom environment may include in-person or onlinemodalities.

Compensation Details:

Compensation: $56.88 per contact hour

Contact Hour: Two hours equals one contact hour

Hours: Maximum of 12 contact hours per week

Full Time/Part Time: Part time
