Adjunct Faculty – Surgical Technologist Program Salary: $1,000 per credit* Department: Healthcare Reports to: Dean of Nursing and Allied Health

Olympic College is seeking Adjunct Faculty for the Surgical Technologist Program. The faculty member will provide instruction in classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings, and support students’ preparation for careers as surgical technologists.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction in Surgical Technology courses, including lecture, lab, and clinical settings.
  • Develop and deliver course materials aligning with program objectives, accreditation requirements, and industry standards.
  • Assess student performance through exams, practical demonstrations, and competency evaluations.
  • Supervise and mentor students during clinical rotations to ensure proper skill development and adherence to patient safety protocols.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and evaluations in accordance with college policies.
  • Assist with curriculum development and program assessment to maintain accreditation compliance.
  • Stay updated with advancements in surgical technology and integrate new best practices into instruction.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, training, and professional development activities.
  • Provide academic advising and support to students as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or higher in Surgical Technology accredited by a recognized programmatic accreditation agency.
  • Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
  • Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology or a combination within the past five (5) years.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of curriculum and program evaluation of student learning and performance.
  • Commitment to student success and inclusive teaching practices.
  • Proficiency with instructional technology, Microsoft Office Suites, and learning management systems (LMS).

Preferred Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field.
  • Prior teaching experience in higher education, particularly in a community college setting.
  • Experience with curriculum development and accreditation processes.
  • Experience in clinical coordination or supervision.

Employment Terms

  • Position is an adjunct faculty role; visas are not sponsored. Only candidates authorized to work in the United States will be considered.
  • Faculty members must reside in Washington State within a reasonable distance of campus.
  • Travel to Olympic College campuses or other clinical sites may be required.
