Please indicate your availability when applying for this position.Job DescriptionMay teach a full range of courses in Health Information Management Technology (HIMT) including introduction to health information management, clinical coding classification systems (CPT and ICD-10), statistical applications in healthcare, data quality and reimbursement, medical insurance billing, clinical quality assessment and improvement, electronic health record systems, project management, and alternative delivery systems. Teaching assignments might be in the community, distance education, day, evening, and/or weekend classes.Prepares and delivers learning activities in order to achieve course outcomesPrepares course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments and handoutsEvaluates and grades students' class work, laboratory work, assignments, papers, and examinationsMaintains and submits student attendance records, grades and other required documentation by specified deadlinesBe available to students for coachingPeriodic meetings with supervisors, division, or College, relative to teaching duties and training and developmentAbility to work a combination of days, evenings, and weekend schedulesRequired QualificationsBachelor's degreeMinimum of 2 years of full-time industry related experience in Health Information Management TechnologyCurrent certification as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (or equivalent)Advanced communication (verbal, written and interpersonal) and organizational skillsSensitivity to respond appropriately to the needs of the communityPreferred QualificationsCertified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification if teaching clinical coding classesManagement or supervisory experienceTeaching experienceIn order to be considered for an Adjunct faculty position, these additional documents are required to be uploaded: Unofficial transcript & license/certifications (Based on requirements outlined in posting).This is a Part-Time Faculty position, with the following set rate of pay: $951/Equated Semester Unit (ESU)During the application process, you may be required to attach a cover letter and/or resume.
