Adjunct Instructor for Drafting and Design Engineering Technology ProgramThe adjunct instructor will teach courses in the Drafting and Design Engineering Technology program, focusing on CAD, technical drawing, 3D modeling, and design principles.

Responsibilities include developing industry-relevant coursework, assessing student performance, providing feedback, and supporting student success. The ideal candidate has industry experience and a strong commitment to teaching, helping students prepare for careers in drafting and engineering support.Instructs and supervises a diverse population of students in the classroom at various times and locationsPossesses a commitment to student engagement, student success, and instructional excellenceDemonstrates effective communication skills, both written and oralPrepares and utilizes a course syllabus and assessments for each course using guidelines established by the institutionMaintains current knowledge of effective teaching methodologies and utilizes a variety of instructional delivery methods, classroom media, and educational resourcesAssists in the recruitment and retention of studentsAdvises students in academic matters or refers students to appropriate resourcesAssesses students' performance through a range of measurement activities and keeps them informed of their progress in a timely mannerEngages students face-to-face and through electronic communicationsUtilizes technology to facilitate learning and to access data, maintain records, generate reports, and communicate with othersAssists in the development, distribution and collection of assessments for courses and program objectivesBuilds positive and professional relationship with students, colleagues, college administration, and the communitySubmits timely college reports and forms to the appropriate divisions and departmentsProvides recommendations to the Instructional Dean, Department Chair, and appropriate college committees regarding curriculum, instruction and division operationsExhibits a commitment to lifelong learning through participation in professional development activitiesAdheres to Alvin College's policies and proceduresAttends institutional meetings as requiredOther duties as assignedWork EnvironmentThe incumbent typically works in a classroom environment and uses a computer, telephone and other office equipment as needed to perform duties. The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of a classroom. Incumbent may encounter frequent interruptions throughout the work day.Physical DemandsThe employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear; frequently required to use repetitive hand motion, handle or feel, and to stand, walk, reach, bend or lift up to twenty (20) pounds.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or industrial design or Associate degree in Engineering Design Graphics or Drafting/A&E CAD and three (3) years non-teaching work experience (DFTG).Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Interior Design or Associate's degree in Engineering Design Graphics or Drafting/A&E CAD and three (3) years non-teaching work experience (ARCE, ENTC).Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesMust have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, as well as intermediate computer skills.Must have a working knowledge of the latest versions of Autodesk AutoCAD.Must be familiar with interactive teaching methods and instruction via the Internet.Working knowledge of Blackboard course management system preferred.Prior teaching experience at the college levelPrior Experience in Additive Manufacturing and 3D Scanning
