Adjunct Associate Professor of Foreign Language (French) Pool

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Under the general supervision of the assigned TrAC Dean, theProfessor will teach classes in French. The successful candidatewill provide evidence of knowledge and understanding of the racial,socioeconomic, and academic diversity within community collegepopulations; the candidate also will show knowledge andunderstanding of how these factors relate to the need forequity-minded and culturally-responsive practices in the communitycollege setting.

Responsibilities and Duties

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to,the following:

1. Conduct and organize classes at the instructional level to meetthe educational requirements stated in the course description andthe course information outlines.
2. Advise and assist students in achieving stated courseobjectives and student learning outcomes.
3. Evaluate the progress of each student; connect students toappropriate campus-support services.
4. Select textbooks, audiovisual and other instructional materialsthat support the learning environment and are reflective of thecollege's mission of equity-minded education.
5. Maintain currency in your field.
6. Maintain necessary records of student enrollment, attendance,progress, and grades; prepare and submit required reports to theadministration.
7. Report to management any condition that might jeopardize thehealth or safety of students or the public.
8. Be familiar with and act in accordance with the Education Codeand San Joaquin Delta Community College District policies andprocedures.
9. Participate in departmental, divisional, advisory, andcampus-wide committees as part of the shared-governance process andservice area needs of the District.
10. Plan and complete approved professional development flexactivities each semester/year.
11. Work collaboratively with the college to promote student equityand success.
12. Provide guidance and direction to Readers, as needed.
13. Perform other necessary duties as specified in the facultycontract and outlined in Board Policy.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Master’s in French

OR

Bachelor’s in French

AND

Master’s in another language or linguistics

OR the equivalent

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

• Demonstrated sensitivity to race, ethnicity, color, religiouscreed, sex, gender expression, gender identity, age, nationalorigin, ancestry, disability, marital status, sexual orientation,military status, prior contact with the criminal legal system, orany other basis prohibited by law.
• Demonstrated ability to adapt teaching strategies andtechniques to different student abilities, learning styles,cultures, and groups mentioned above.
• Demonstrated experience teaching in a variety of settings,including but not limited to online, dual enrollment, and largelectures. A willingness to develop and utilize instructionalmaterials, including lectures and labs for multiplemodalities.
• Ability to use innovative and creative teaching techniques(lecture and labs) and equipment such as multimedia hardware,current applications, learning management systems, and onlineinstructional strategies.
