This is a manager role at the intersection of equipment ownership, people leadership, and product development.
The ideal candidate brings deep LPBF technical expertise combined with the ability to build and lead a team of operators and maintenance technicians, both internal and external. A core part of this role is driving the development of new products and materials on the LPBF platform, translating process capability into manufacturable outcomes.Key ResponsibilitiesOwn and manage the LPBF equipment fleet, including maintenance scheduling, performance monitoring, and lifecycle planningDirectly manage a team of machine operators and maintenance technicians, including contractors and external service personnelLead process parameter development across relevant alloy systems, from initial development through qualification and production releaseDrive new product development on the LPBF platform — collaborating with engineering and design teams to translate part requirements into qualified, production-ready processesManage production build planning and execution, coordinating with internal teams on scheduling, powder inventory, and shared equipmentServe as primary point of contact for equipment and powder suppliers — managing vendor relationships, service contracts, and procurementDrive continuous improvement in yield, build quality, and machine utilizationDocument and maintain process standards, SOPs, and build recordQualificationsSTEM degree (Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related field)5+ years of direct LPBF experience, with demonstrated expertise in process parameter development and new product introductionHands-on experience developing and qualifying parts in high-performance alloy systemsPrior experience managing or leading technical teams, including contractors or external vendorsExperience with vendor management and production operations in a manufacturing environmentStrong cross-functional communicator able to align engineering, operations, and external partnersVulcanForms offers a competitive salary and equity package. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience. The annual base salary range for this position is $152,821.00 to $210,129.00.
