Job Summary:
The clinician (MD or DO) in this position will function as anaddiction medicine provider on the inpatient unit at Center forDependency, Addiction & Rehabilitation (CeDAR) and affiliatedprograms within the University of Colorado Health system, providinghigh quality medical care and supervising fellows, residents andstudents as needed. This position is based at CeDAR, which is aleading residential addiction treatment center specializing inpatients dealing with dual substance use disorders and mentalhealth disorders.
TOTAL FTE COMMITMENT:
.25 FTE.
Examples of Work Performed
The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but arenot limited to:
Clinical Care
- Provide full scope of inpatient addiction medicine care, with aprimary focus on medically supervised withdrawal management,initiation and continuation of medications for substance usedisorders, and stabilization during early recovery.
- Complete comprehensive medical intakes for all new admissions toCeDAR including:
- Evaluation and management of acute withdrawal syndromes
- Assessment and treatment of chronic medical conditions
- Identification and management of new or evolving acute medicalcomplaints
- Determination of need for transfer to higher levels of medicalcare when indicated
- Conduct daily inpatient rounds for withdrawal management andstabilization of patients, adjusting treatment plans based onclinical course and interdisciplinary input.
- Perform pre-admission chart reviews to assess medicalappropriateness and level-of-care suitability for prospective CeDARadmissions
- Participate in discussions with hospital-based providers toevaluate and coordinate transfers of medically appropriate patientsfrom actue care setting to CeDAR
- Collaborate closely with nursing, behavioral health, casemanagement, and recovery services to ensure integrated,patient-centered care.
- Supervise or assist in supervision of advanced practice providers(APPs) at CeDAR.
- Supervise medical students, residents, fellows and otherhealthcare learners.
- Assist in other supervision / administrative functions relatingto a variety of addiction treatment service settings includingintegrated inpatient consult and ambulatory primary care settings,as directed by CeDAR Addiction Medicine Program Director.
- Provide weekend coverage as required.
Teaching and Mentoring
- Provide education to fellows, residents and medical studentsduring their rotations/programs.
- Supervise learners within the CeDAR American Board of AddictionMedicine (ABAM) fellowship training program in collaboration withthe Departments of Family Medicine and Psychiatry Graduate MedicalEducation Programs.
- Under the direction of the Director of the ABAM Fellowshipprogram, assure supervision meets all requirements of ABAM.
Administrative/Professional Development
- Maintains eligibility for School of Medicine Faculty.
- Keeps abreast of the latest developments in field, bothacademically and through applied skill.
- Participate in scholarly activity.
- Accepts other responsibilities specifically assigned by the Medical Director.
- Attends and presents at conferences, meetings and trainings inorder to maintain certification and enhance professional skills;participates in faculty development activities.

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located inAurora, Colorado.

Minimum Qualifications:
Adjoint Senior Instructor
- Terminal degree in Medicine or Osteopathy (MD or DO).
- Completed fellowship from an ACGME accredited addiction medicineprogram.
- Colorado Medical License and possession of a current DEACertificate.
- SAMHSA Data 2000 Buprenorphine Waiver.
- Board Certified/Board Eligible in an appropriate medicalspecialty.
- Board Certified/Board Eligible in Addiction Medicine.
- Ability to be fully credentialed with the UCH system and UPIManaged Care.
- Experience and enthusiasm for teaching students and/orresidents.
Adjoint Assistant Professor Minimum Qualifications
- Terminal degree in Medicine or Osteopathy (MD or DO).

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for thisposition has been established as HIRING RANGE:
Adjoint Senior Instructor Hiring Range: $56,250- $58,750
Adjoint Assistant Professor Hiring Range: $56,250- $58,750
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to,internal equity, experience, education, specialty andtraining.
