Respiratory Therapist Requirements:
- Associate degree from a Respiratory Therapy program.
- Certification from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
- Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license by the State of Ohio
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
Responsibilities for a Registered Respiratory Therapist:
- Provide respiratory therapy services to patients with acute and chronic respiratory conditions.
- Perform diagnostic tests such as spirometry, arterial blood gas analysis, and pulmonary function testing.
- Assess patients' respiratory status, administer treatments, and monitor their response to therapy.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
