About the role:
We are seeking an experienced Health Actuary Senior Consultant to support healthcare organizations in solving complex business and actuarial challenges. This role combines actuarial expertise, strategic consulting, and advanced analytics to help health plans, providers, pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs), and government agencies improve financial performance, optimize pricing strategies, and drive healthcare transformation.
You will work on high-impact engagements involving pricing, underwriting, forecasting, reserving, healthcare finance, and value-based care initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Lead actuarial and strategic consulting engagements for healthcare clients.
Evaluate pricing strategies, market expansion opportunities, provider network optimization, and cost-of-care initiatives.
Develop SQL-based analytical models to support:
Provider network evaluations
Claims analytics
Review Medicare Advantage and Medicare Part D bid submissions for completeness, consistency, and accuracy.
Build actuarial forecasting models including:
Lapse and retention analysis
Membership projections
Develop Return on Investment (ROI) models for medical management and healthcare initiatives.
Prepare Incurred But Not Reported (IBNR) reserve models and actuarial analyses for audits.
Support project management activities including work plans, executive presentations, status reporting, and client deliverables.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary consulting teams to deliver data-driven business solutions.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance, or a related quantitative field.
Minimum 4+ years of Health Actuarial experience.
Successful completion of at least four actuarial examinations.
Strong understanding of:
Health insurance pricing
Reserving
Forecasting
Experience developing analytical models using SQL.
Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced consulting environment.
Preferred Qualifications
4+ years of consulting experience supporting health plans or insurance organizations.
Experience with healthcare finance and underwriting.
2+ years of project management experience.
Experience leading client presentations and facilitating stakeholder discussions.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
Experience working with Medicare Advantage, Medicare Part D, or government healthcare programs.
