This role performs actuarial pricing analyses, supports rate and regulatory filings, and participates in projects to develop or enhance products. The position works closely with internal business partners and actively monitors product performance through ongoing analysis, reporting, and profitability tracking.The Actuarial Assistant is an active member of the department and supports continuous improvement initiatives within a fast-paced environment.

The role also supports ongoing professional development through progress toward actuarial examinations.What You'll Do:Collaborate with business partners (e.g., Claims, Underwriting, Product) to support pricing, filings, and profitability work; ask questions to understand how assigned work ties to business prioritiesSupport actuarial analyses for assigned lines (e.g., workers' compensation and/or commercial auto), including data preparation, basic rate level indication support, trend summaries, and segmentation studies.Support rate and regulatory filings by assembling exhibits, summaries, and supporting documentation; ensure results tie out and are review-readyUse actuarial techniques and available tools (e.g., Excel, data extraction/query tools, internal systems) to extract, validate, manipulate, and analyze data, with hands-on support and reviewComplete assigned tasks accurately within established timelines; communicate questions, issues, or delays earlyMaintain clear documentation and workpapers so another analyst can understand, recreate, and review the work productPerform peer review of other assistant/analyst work as assigned, focusing on basic checks (reasonableness, tie-outs, completeness, and documentation)Participate actively in team and department meetings by asking questions, sharing observations, and providing status updates as neededPursue ongoing professional development through consistent progress toward actuarial examsWhy Join GUARD?Meaningful work with direct impact on business resultsCollaborative and highly visible actuarial teamExposure to pricing, profitability, product development, and strategic initiativesStrong support for actuarial exam progress and professional developmentOpportunity to grow your career within a leading commercial insurance organizationQualificationsBachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, actuarial science, or related fieldAt least 1-2 CAS exams are strongly preferred. Prior internship or relevant P&C pricing experience are a plusExceptional attention to detail to ensure accuracy and reliability of resultsAbility to communicate results and assumptionsExperience collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data and model resultsResults-oriented with the ability to adjust priorities when necessaryIT and statistical skills are highly valued. Knowledge of SQL is preferred; VBA & Python skills are a plusSalary Range: $60,000-$80,000In accordance with applicable pay transparency laws, the salary ranges listed above represent good-faith estimates for each level.
