Activity Specialist

We are seeking a Per Diem Activity Specialist to supervise and engage a group of school-age children in enriching activities during after-school hours. This includes assisting with homework, leading recreational and educational activities, and ensuring a safe, supportive environment. The Activity Specialist will have specialized skills and expertise in one or more or content area to lead and implement an activity such as arts, dance, STEM, literacy, nutrition or organized sports.Essential Functions and Primary Responsibilities of Position:Assist in the development of age-appropriate activities in one or more discipline or content areaProvide direct supervision of youth activitiesSubmit weekly activity plansLead activities related to recreation and theme based such as (Arts, Dance, STEM, Literacy, Nutrition, or Organized sports.Assist in maintaining daily attendance records for program participantsAssist in the provision of basic counseling services as needed (peer mediation, self-control, decision making)Accompany youth on cultural and recreational field tripsAssist in ensuring a safe environment for program participantsFoster a positive, inclusive, and supportive atmosphere; Collaborate with other staff members to coordinate group activitiesActively participate in all professional development sessions, supervision, and team meetingsMaintain and organize activities and equipmentPerforms other job-related duties as assigned, consistent with the scope, responsibilities, and level of the position, and in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and organizational policies.High school diploma or GED RequiredAssociate's degree in child development, recreation, or a related field PreferredMinimum of 1-2 years' experience working with youth in child development, recreation, or a related fieldMust be able to work in Coney Island, Brooklyn and have availability to work; Mon-Fri; (2:00pm-6pm)BenefitsWhat we offer once YOU join our growing family:At Heartshare we offer a comprehensive benefit package based on full-time/part-time status.
