Activity LeaderReports To: Program Director/Site CoordinatorPrimary Function:Plans, implements, supervises, and evaluates activities provided within a specific program area such as Education, Social Emotional Learning, Virtual Education, Special Education, Social Recreation, Arts & Crafts, Physical Education, Safety, Sanitation and STEAM.Skills/Knowledge Required:Must be 18 years of age or olderMust have proof of High School graduation or GED (Diploma or Transcripts)Must provide Negative TB test results or Assessment test completed within the last 4 yearsMust have at least 48 semester college units/68 quarter units or have a paraprofessional certificationAbility to read, write, spell, understand, and assist with math calculations/problems and assist with homework at all grade levelsExperience in working with childrenKnowledge of youth developmentAbility to motivate youth and manage behavior problemsAbility to effectively interact with the publicAbility to plan and implement quality programs for youthAbility to organize and supervise members in a safe environmentKey Roles (Essential Job Responsibilities):Prepare Youth for Success:Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes.Understand and Implement Knowledge Library resources and its functions. Promote and stimulate program participationAssist in recruiting new membersEngage studentsProvide guidance and role modeling to membersEnsure a productive work environment:Participate in weekly After School Program staff meetingsAttend all site meetingsComplete Child Protective Services and Mandated Reporting documentsRead, sign, and abide by monthly safety topicsMonitor and evaluate programs, environment, services, and activities by actively engaging to ensure safety of staff and membersAssess programs and the appearance of all areas of the After School ProgramProgram Development and Implementation:Plan, create, teach, implement, and administer programs, services, and activities for members and visitorsCreate and submit lesson plans and/or scheduled activities to immediate supervisor as requiredRead and write without assistanceImplement daily lesson plans and scheduled activitiesApply BGCKC Youth Development StrategyProvide classroom managementImplement and teach transition strategiesProvide BGCKC and District positive redirection strategiesUtilize District curriculumPrepare and submit periodic reports as directedMonitor and evaluate programs, services and activities to ensure safety of members, quality in programs, and appearance of the After School Program at all timesMonitor and review ADP on a weekly basis to review, read, and sign documents as providedFollow all BGCKC and individual school district policies and proceduresAbility to supervise a minimum of 20 children in a safe environment independently.Key Roles & Responsibilities:Commitment to SafetyContribute to environment of safety through the learning and implementation and monitoring of all safety-related best practices, policies, and procedures.Promote accountability to safety through consistent observation, adherence to all safety rules and practices and proactive communication among members, parents, peers, and leadership.Obtain and maintain Mandated Reporter training and complete annual Child Abuse Prevention training.Complete training and participate in all Emergency Preparedness protocols including drills and communication practices.Additional Responsibilities:Participate in special programs and/or eventsUtilize customer service model - LEARN Model - to help resolve issues regarding clients and stakeholdersOversee special programs and/or events (e.g. Lights on After School, Parent Night, Back to School night), and/or participate in the implementation of other unit activities as necessaryAssume other duties as assignedRelationships:Internal: Maintain close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instructions, instruct, and advise/counsel.
Adhere to BGCKC Code of Conduct at all timesExternal: Maintain contact with schools, members' parents, and others to assist in publicizing the After School Program and resolving problems with Club managersPhysical Requirements/Work Environment:These physical demands are representative of the physical requirements necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the Activity Leader position.
