Role Description

The Activities Director is a full-time, on-site role located in Clinton Twp, MI, responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing a comprehensive activity program for residents. Day-to-day tasks include designing recreational, social, and therapeutic activities that support physical, cognitive, and emotional well-being, and adapting programs to meet diverse interests and abilities. The role involves creating monthly calendars, organizing events and outings, managing activity materials and spaces, and collaborating with care teams to align activities with residents’ needs and care plans. The Activities Director will oversee activity budgets, maintain documentation of participation and outcomes, communicate schedules and program details to residents, families, and staff, and ensure regulatory and safety standards are met. Regular interaction with residents to encourage participation, gather feedback, and foster an inclusive, engaging community environment is central to this position.

Qualifications

• Strong Communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with residents, families, and team members.
• Experience in Recreation and Therapeutic Recreation to design engaging and resident-centered programs.
• Proficiency in Event Planning and organizing group activities, special events, and community outings.
• Ability in Budgeting to manage activity program resources and supplies efficiently.
• Previous experience in senior living, long-term care, or related settings is preferred.
• Knowledge of dementia-friendly and person-centered activity approaches is beneficial.
• Demonstrated organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework or degree in recreation, therapeutic recreation, social work, or a related field is an asset.
