Accounts Payable Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist for a direct hire opportunity in the Winston-Salem area. This role is ideal for an AP professional with strong experience in 3-way matching, inventory-related purchases, freight invoices, and ERP systems who enjoys researching and resolving discrepancies.

Key Responsibilities

• Process high-volume accounts payable invoices accurately and efficiently
• Perform 3-way matching of purchase orders, inventory receipts, and vendor invoices
• Review and reconcile freight invoices, shipping charges, and inventory-related costs
• Research discrepancies involving pricing, quantities, inventory receipts, freight, and vendor invoices
• Partner with purchasing, receiving, inventory/warehouse, operations, and vendors to resolve exceptions
• Verify inventory has been properly received before invoices are approved for payment
• Maintain accurate vendor and payment records
• Assist with AP reconciliations and month-end activities
• Utilize ERP systems and Excel to research transactions and resolve issues
• Identify opportunities to improve AP processes and internal controls

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on Accounts Payable experience
• 3-way matching experience required
• Experience working with inventory and PO-based purchases
• Experience processing or reconciling freight invoices
• Understanding of receiving and inventory-related AP discrepancies
• Strong ERP/accounting systems aptitude
• Solid Excel skills
• Ability to research and resolve pricing, quantity, receiving, inventory, and freight variances
• Strong attention to detail and analytical/problem-solving skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with vendors and internal departments
