Accounts Payable Specialist

Insight Global is hiring for an Accounts Payable Specialist who will be responsible for performing complex accounts payable activities and supporting the accurate, timely, and compliant processing of payments for a local government organization. This position serves as a senior resource within the Accounts Payable function, handling higher-level invoice issues, vendor inquiries, payment processing, reconciliations, and financial documentation.

Job Details

• Pay Range: $28 - $38/hr, commensurate with experience
• Schedule : Full-time, Monday - Friday, standard business hours
• Location: Henrico, VA (On-site)
• Job Type: 6-month contract-to-hire (*contract-to-apply)

Responsibilities

• Review, verify, code, and process high-volume invoices and payment requests, ensuring proper approvals and supporting documentation.
• Perform purchase order matching, account reconciliations, and research to resolve invoice discrepancies, payment issues, and outstanding transactions.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for vendors and internal departments regarding invoice status, payment inquiries, and account discrepancies.
• Process vendor payments through checks, ACH, and other approved methods while maintaining accurate vendor and financial records.
• Support month-end and fiscal year-end close activities, audits, and compliance with established accounting, purchasing, and internal control procedures. xzgxqkn
• Provide guidance to Accounts Payable staff and identify opportunities to improve AP processes, accuracy, documentation, and workflow efficiency.

Required Qualifications

• 4-5+ years of Accounts Payable (AP) experience
• Strong Microsoft Excel experience
• Bachelor's Degree
• Strong organizational, analytical and recording skills
• Detail oriented
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite

Preferred Experience

• Oracle experience
• Previous lead or supervisory role
