Accounts Payable Manager
About the Role
Our client is looking for an Accounts Payable leader to oversee a talented team and manage the financial processes that keep projects moving. You will guide a dedicated AP team, partner closely with leadership, play a key role in protecting cash flow, and ensure financial accuracy across the organization. With a talented team already in place, this role offers the opportunity to focus on leadership, continuous improvement, and building scalable processes to support the company's continued growth.
What You'll Own
- Lead a team of AP professionals, ensuring smooth disbursement activity and consistent service to internal stakeholders and vendors.
- Strengthen and refine internal controls, invoice coding procedures, and contract compliance processes to safeguard company assets.
- Navigate vendor relationships, resolve complex account discrepancies, and oversee detailed statement reconciliations.
- Manage cash disbursement activity, Positive Pay exceptions, and account funding coordination to support accurate and timely payment cycles.
- Oversee quarterly tax filings and lien waiver collection processes, helping maintain compliance across active construction projects.
- Partner with Accounting and Finance leadership on process improvements, reconciliations, and special projects that enhance operational efficiency.
What We'd Like
- Proven experience leading accounts payable teams, preferably within project-based environments.
- Strong understanding of cash controls, payment processes, vendor management, and AP best practices.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and the ability to investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies.
- Experience with ERP and financial systems; exposure to Timberline/Sage and TimberScan is a plus.
- A collaborative leadership style with the ability to earn trust across accounting, operations, and project teams.
Why This Role
This isn't a turnaround. It's a chance to take the reins of a department that's already on solid footing. You'll step into a leadership role with a respected team, support their continued success, and foster a culture that keeps talented people engaged for years to come.
This is the type of environment where relationships matter, collaboration comes naturally, and people tend to stay. You'll partner closely with operational leaders, have visibility across the business, and play a meaningful role in supporting projects from the ground up.
