Accounts Payable Analyst

This is a 12 month contract role (possibility of extension) with a leading financial institution. This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days onsite per week.

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Analyst to join on a temporary assignment. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career finance professional who enjoys problem-solving, collaborating with others, and finding smarter ways to work. As a member of our Finance team, you will help ensure the accurate and timely processing of company expenses while supporting initiatives that leverage automation, data analytics, and AI-powered tools to improve efficiency and strengthen controls.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily accounts payable responsibilities, including verifying and processing invoices, reconciling vendor statements, securing department approvals, and ensuring timely payment processing.
• Match invoices with purchase orders and supporting documentation.
• Code and enter invoices into the accounting system accurately and efficiently.
• Prepare and process payment batches for approval, including checks, electronic transfers, and ACH payments.
• Verify payment amounts and ensure vendors are paid accurately and on time.
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders.
• Respond to vendor inquiries and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Monitor invoice activity and prepare recurring reporting and analysis.
• Reconcile vendor statements with accounts payable records to ensure completeness and accuracy.
• Maintain accounts payable records and assist with quarterly audit preparation.
• Organize and maintain vendor files and supporting documentation.
• Partner with the accounting team on month-end accruals, accounts payable reconciliations, and other accounting responsibilities as needed.
• Utilize AI-enabled and automation tools to streamline workflows, improve data accuracy, identify exceptions, and enhance reporting processes.
• Contribute ideas for process improvements by leveraging technology, analytics, and emerging AI capabilities within finance operations.

What We're Looking for

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 1+ years of relevant work experience in a large financial institution
• Proficiency in Excel is required.
• Familiarity with AI tools, automation technologies, or data analytics platforms, with a willingness to learn and adopt new technologies.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
