Position Overview

An established manufacturing organization in the greater Walled Lake, Michigan area is seeking an Accounting Supervisor to support its finance and accounting operations. This position will work closely with finance leadership to oversee day-to-day accounting activities, support financial reporting, and improve accounting processes.

The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in general accounting, experience supporting month-end close, and the ability to oversee key accounting functions while providing guidance to team members. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional looking to expand their leadership responsibilities within a growing organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting activities, including general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, journal entries, and accruals.
• Support monthly and periodic financial close processes and reporting requirements.
• Coordinate accounts payable and accounts receivable activities to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
• Provide day-to-day guidance and support to accounting team members.
• Assist with financial statement preparation, account analysis, and variance investigations.
• Support internal and external audits, tax reporting, and compliance initiatives.
• Help maintain effective accounting procedures, internal controls, and documentation.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows, reporting processes, and system utilization.
• Collaborate with cross-functional departments to resolve financial and transactional discrepancies.
• Prepare ad hoc reports and assist with special projects as needed.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline preferred.
• Approximately 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Manufacturing or other operationally focused industry experience is beneficial.
• Prior team leadership or supervisory experience is an advantage.

Technical Skills

• Working knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles.
• Experience with ERP or enterprise accounting systems.
• Familiarity with financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
• Experience with reporting and data analysis tools is a plus.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

This position is based in a professional office environment within a manufacturing organization in the Walled Lake, Michigan area. The role involves regular interaction with finance leadership and other operational departments. Occasional additional hours may be necessary during financial close periods or critical reporting deadlines.
