Accounting Specialist

We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to join a well-established, family-owned furniture manufacturer in High Point, NC. With over 80 years of success in the industry, this organization is known for its high-quality contemporary furniture, collaborative team environment, and strong commitment to its employees.
A degree or previous furniture industry experience is not required!
Key Responsibilities
- Support daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, cash receipts, and payment processing.
- Manage sales tax administration, reporting, and compliance, utilizing Avalara or similar systems.
- Perform general ledger reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and month-end closing activities.
- Process credit card transactions, employee expense reports, and merchant account activity.
- Assist with fixed asset accounting and inventory reconciliations.
- Review customer and vendor transactions, resolve discrepancies, and maintain accurate financial records.
- Support sales commission calculations, year-end audits, and financial reporting.
- Collaborate with internal departments to resolve accounting questions and improve processes.
- Provide cross-functional support and assist with additional accounting responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of well-rounded accounting experience, ideally supporting multiple accounting functions.
- Strong understanding of AP, AR, general ledger accounting, and reconciliations.
- Sales tax experience strongly preferred.
- Experience supporting month-end close, journal entries, and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems.
- Experience with Avalara and/or Epicor is a plus, but not required.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication skills with a collaborative, customer-service-oriented mindset.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, adapt to changing needs, and wear multiple hats.
- Accounting or Finance degree preferred, but equivalent professional experience is welcome.
