High Point Capital Group is seeking an ambitious, entrepreneurial-minded accounting professional to join our team and build our accounting function from the ground up.
This is not a traditional accounting position where you inherit an established set of processes and simply maintain the books. You will have the opportunity to create the accounting practice itself. You will establish the systems, processes, controls, reporting structures, and standards that will become the foundation of High Point Capital Group's accounting operations.
For the right individual, this position represents an opportunity to grow from an accountant into a key member of the company's leadership team as the organization and accounting practice expand.
The Opportunity
We are looking for someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, analytical, and excited by the opportunity to build something. The successful candidate will initially take ownership of High Point Capital Group's accounting operations while developing a scalable accounting infrastructure. This includes establishing appropriate accounting systems and workflows, creating financial reporting processes, developing internal controls, and ensuring the company has accurate and timely financial information to support decision-making. As the company grows, the role has the potential to expand significantly in scope and responsibility. The individual who successfully builds and leads this function will have the opportunity to grow with the business and potentially build and manage an accounting team and broader accounting practice.
Key Responsibilities:
Build the Accounting Function
- Establish High Point Capital Group's accounting function from the ground up.
- Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, systems, and workflows.
- Establish a consistent and scalable chart of accounts and accounting structure.
- Determine and implement appropriate accounting software and technology.
- Create organized systems for maintaining financial records and documentation.
- Develop processes for accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, expense management, and general ledger activities.
- Establish appropriate internal controls and financial processes.
- Build accounting procedures that can scale as the company grows.
- Maintain accurate and timely books and financial records.
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations.
- Prepare financial statements and management reporting.
- Develop recurring financial reporting packages for company leadership.
- Monitor cash flow and working capital.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
- Identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities within the company's financial information.
- Provide management with accurate financial information to support strategic decision-making.
Tax, Compliance & External Relationships
- Coordinate with outside CPAs, tax professionals, auditors, attorneys, and other financial professionals as needed.
- Assist with tax preparation and tax-related reporting.
- Ensure accounting records and processes are maintained in accordance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain organized documentation to support tax filings, audits, financing, and other corporate requirements.
Build for the Future
- Continuously improve accounting processes, systems, and reporting.
- Identify opportunities to automate repetitive accounting functions.
- Develop documentation and standard operating procedures.
- Establish processes that allow the accounting function to scale efficiently.
- As the company grows, assist with recruiting, training, and managing additional accounting personnel.
- Take increasing ownership of the company's accounting and financial operations.

- Is entrepreneurial and excited by the opportunity to build a department.
- Has strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Can prioritize competing responsibilities and meet deadlines.
- Is comfortable working directly with company leadership.
- Has the ambition to grow professionally as the company grows.
- Understands that the opportunity is larger than the initial job title.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles.
- Demonstrated experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
