Accounting Manager - Fund Accounting Dallas, TX - Onsite $140-170k + bonus
Position Overview
A growing investment management firm is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee daily accounting operations, month-end close, investor reporting, and process improvement initiatives across multiple investment fund entities. This role reports to senior fund finance leadership and plays a key role in supporting the firm\'s continued growth. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day recording of financial transactions, including journal entries, expense accruals, and cash reconciliations.
- Manage and review work performed by third-party fund administrators or outsourced accounting providers to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
- Lead the month-end and quarter-end close process for multiple investment funds, ensuring accurate allocations and financial statement preparation.
- Review investor distribution calculations and coordinate cash disbursements related to investment activity.
- Oversee the capital call process, including preparation of notices and funding schedules.
- Prepare and review quarterly investor reporting packages and capital account statements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support audit requests, investor inquiries, and reporting requirements.
- Participate in team meetings to align priorities, resolve issues, and ensure critical deadlines are achieved.
- Support fundraising activities, investment exits, distributions, and other strategic initiatives.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance internal controls and accounting processes.
- Monitor accounting workflows and ensure all recurring deliverables are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Assist in managing relationships with external auditors, tax providers, fund administrators, and other service providers.
- Identify opportunities for process automation and operational efficiencies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor\'s degree in Accounting; Master\'s degree and/or CPA certification preferred.
- 5-7 years of public accounting, fund accounting, or investment management accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals, including journal entries, reconciliations, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivated professional who can work independently with minimal supervision.
- Advanced Excel skills, including experience with automation tools, VBA, and macros preferred.
- Experience working in multi-entity structures, including investment funds, SPVs, Series LLCs, and other complex investment vehicles.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
- Experience with fund accounting platforms and investor reporting systems is a plus.
- Exposure to partnership or corporate tax compliance is preferred.
