Accounting ManagerThe Accounting Manager is responsible for supporting the Controller with planning, coordinating, supervising, and directing both financial and accounting management. This position maintains a complete and accurate set of financial records which will be updated on a timely basis. This position performs professional accounting duties in a variety of areas requiring professional, competent knowledge of accounting principles and applicable laws and regulations.

This role is also responsible for suggesting and developing new procedures and guidelines, as well as enforcing existing policy. Accountable for accurate reporting for ASU Enterprise Partners and related entities.What you'll do:Maintains a comprehensive and current knowledge of Non-profit accounting, FASB requirements, Fund accounting and Gift reportingDelivers timely federal and state government reports, i.e., 990, 990T, 1099, 1099R, 5227 to conform to taxation laws of bothDirects the implementation of applicable Federal and State taxation laws and regulations necessary for compliance and assists with other compliance matters or requirements as neededReviews and approves monthly internal financial reporting packageAssists in preparing and reviews required quarterly, annual, or ad hoc reports for dissemination to university personnel, Federal or State agenciesAssists in coordinating the annual ASUEP audit, including supervision of the preparation of work papers, adjusting journal entries, data processing needs, and preparation of audited financial reportsOversees completion of reporting requirements, i.e., annual CAE and NACUBO surveys, federal 990 tax return, the Arizona Corporation Commission Report, and other state and local filingsReviews and summarizes monthly, annual, and special request reports to provide meaningful, accurate, and consistent information and analyze financial dataPrepares financial information to advise ASUEP, University staff and the public regarding accounting and gift-related mattersSupervises all aspects of general ledger activity posting to the accounting system as required for month-end and year-end closingsAssists Controller with analysis of the financial status of ASUEPReviews and assists in the accounting for all aspects of ASUEP's general ledger. i.e., pledges, investments, endowments, planned gifts, real estate deals, LLC's, etc.Works with Controller to ensure optimum process effectiveness related to the installation and use of WorkdaySupervises training for staff and users in the comprehension of financial statements, the general ledger accounting system and policies and proceduresHelps oversee financial control system, safeguard organizational assets, and ensures accurate and reliable financial informationEvaluates internal controls, policies, and procedures; develops and presents methods to improve efficiencies and controlsAssists in creation and maintenance of department policies and proceduresParticipates in the establishment of personal and department goals and objectives in support of the mission and goals of ASUEPDevelops and/or serves on cross-functional committees to develop policies and procedures related to gifts, pledges, investments, subsidiaries, fundraising events, planned giving, and other financial transactions to ensure efficient processes, effective and consistent reporting, and to maintain legal and regulatory complianceRepresents the department on other internal and external committees as assignedMaintains regular communication with Controller as established by them, regarding department and general Enterprise Partners issuesProvides duty coverage for the Controller in his/her absenceWhat you'll need:Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and highly proficient with ExcelDemonstrated understanding of general Federal and State taxation laws and regulations applicable to ASUEP and its donors and has the ability to direct the implementation of procedures necessary for complianceDemonstrated mastery of accounting, accounting principles, practices and proceduresCollaborative style, combined with the ability and desire to work in a team-based environmentAbility to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and responsibility regarding information related to Enterprise Partners, its subsidiaries and University business and confidential prospect informationAbility to communicate Federal and State taxation laws and regulations with clarity and simplicity to help facilitate understanding of Enterprise Partners' reporting and processesStrong and collegial interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively in person, in writing, and by phoneAbility to work both independently and as part of a teamProblem solver who can take initiative and set priorities while being flexibleTeam-oriented strategist able to effectively manage complex situations involving numerous and sometimes competing constituenciesExcellent leadership and management qualities;
