We value respect, integrity, empathy, transparency, and inclusion.Job SummaryThe Accounting Manager is a senior-level, hands-on role responsible for both execution and oversight of accounting operations. This position ensures accurate, timely, and compliant financial information across all entities, with a strong focus on general ledger integrity, grant accounting, and financial reporting.Job DutiesMaintain and oversee the general ledger and ensure accuracy of all financial dataLead monthly and year-end close processes including reconciliations and reportingReview postings from AP, AR, payroll, and external systemsPrepare and submit grant billing and reimbursement requestsAssists with monthly financial statements, analysis, and budgets.Ensure timely and accurate financial data to support real-time decision-making in a deadline-driven environmentSupport grant reporting and ensure compliance with funding requirementsReview cost allocation methodologies across programsPrepare financial statements and supporting schedulesOwn and validate cost allocation methodologies across programs and funding sources to ensure accuracy, consistency, and complianceDevelop custom financial reports, including drill-down and multi-segment reporting to support program and leadership needsLead audit preparation and support external auditorsPrepare schedules for tax filingsIdentify and implement process improvements and internal controlsMentor and support accounting staffManage accruals including payroll, PTO, and benefits, along with depreciation, prepaids, and other balance sheet accountsAssist with collections and cash applicationParticipate in cross-functional projectsQualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting or related field requiredCPA or professional certification preferred5–7 years of progressive accounting experienceMinimum 2 years of nonprofit fund accounting experienceExperience with multi-site or multi-entity organizations preferredExperience with Federal and State funding and reporting strongly preferredStrong knowledge of general ledger and financial reportingExperience with grant accounting and reimbursement-based fundingAdvanced Excel skills and accounting software experience (Sage Intacct preferred)Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities and deadlinesPhysical RequirementsThe physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position involves extended periods of computer-based work, including use of accounting software, spreadsheets, virtual meeting platforms, email, and other business systems.The position requires regular collaboration with internal departments including Finance, Leadership, Human Resources, Program Operations, and affiliated entities, as well as occasional communication with external auditors, grant monitors, vendors, and financial partners.This role requires the ability to work independently in a remote setting while maintaining productivity, responsiveness, and effective communication with team members across multiple locations. Occasional travel to office locations or meetings may be required based on business needs.
