Accounting Manager

Position Overview

A well-established, financially stable manufacturing company is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead accounting operations and financial reporting for its growing team. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in manufacturing accounting, public accounting experience, and a hands-on approach to financial reporting and month-end close.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and financial statements.
• Analyze financial results, investigate variances, and prepare management reports.
• Maintain general ledger accuracy and strengthen internal controls.
• Lead annual external audits and coordinate supporting documentation.
• Oversee inventory, fixed asset, accrual, and other manufacturing accounting activities.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, efficiency, and accuracy.
• Supervise and support two accounting team members.
• Assist with additional accounting and finance projects as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 7+ years of manufacturing accounting experience; candidates with at least 5 years of manufacturing experience will also be considered.
• 3+ years of public accounting experience, including experience with a public accounting firm or consulting.
• Experience preparing financial statements, journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Experience with SAP or a similar ERP system.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience leading external audits and managing at least one direct report.
• Ability to travel to the company’s Detroit location approximately once per quarter.

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA certification.
• Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience in a broad, hands-on accounting role within a manufacturing environment.

Compensation & Benefits

• Competitive base salary of $115,000–$135,000.
• 10% annual bonus opportunity.
• Hybrid schedule following training, with Mondays and Wednesdays onsite and flexibility to choose a third onsite day.

Compensation: $115,000–$135,000 base salary + 10% bonus

Schedule: Hybrid – 3 days onsite, 2 days remote after training
