Overview

The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the full spectrum of accounting and financial reporting activities for a portfolio of real estate investments, including multi-tiered joint ventures, development entities, and related investment vehicles. This role supports both property- and investment-level reporting and plays a key part in capital event execution, compliance, and financial analysis.

Base pay range

$115,000.00/yr - $130,000.00/yr

Responsibilities

  • Review property-level financials prepared by third-party or internal property accounting teams. Ensure accuracy, perform variance analysis, and prepare necessary adjusting journal entries prior to consolidation or reporting to investors.
  • General Ledger Management - Maintain general ledger accuracy, including creating and posting journal entries, reconciling key accounts, managing supporting schedules, and performing cash postings and bank reconciliations.
  • Month-End and Quarter-End Close - Coordinate with Property Accounting, Asset Management, and Finance teams to produce timely and accurate monthly and quarterly financial statements, investor reports, and internal reporting packages.
  • Capital Events Support - Assist in the preparation and tracking of capital calls, distributions, and waterfall calculations. Support investment teams in modeling and reporting capital activity.
  • Debt Compliance - Prepare required reports for lender compliance, including debt covenant calculations and guarantor-related disclosures.
  • Audit & Tax Support - Assist in the preparation of audit and tax packages. Work directly with auditors and tax preparers to ensure timely and accurate completion of deliverables.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting, with at least 3 years in real estate investment, property accounting, or joint venture structures.
  • Familiarity with financial reporting requirements for commercial real estate or real estate funds.
  • Strong working knowledge of general ledger processes, account reconciliations, and month-end closings.
  • Proficient in Excel and financial systems; comfort working with accounting and reporting software.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience developing or refining accounting policies, procedures, and workflows is a plus.
