Job Title: Accounting Manager (Cost Accounting - SAP S/4 HANA)
Location: Remote (EST working hours preferred)
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join the Global Cost Accounting team at Amgen. This role focuses on inventory accounting, cost of sales analysis, and financial reporting across global manufacturing sites. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in SAP S/4 HANA, cost accounting, and US GAAP , along with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:

• Perform inventory accounting for global manufacturing sites
• Manage and review work delivered by outsourced accounting partners
• Prepare and review journal entries, GL reconciliations, and account analysis
• Support master data management and system-related activities
• Prepare audit schedules and coordinate with internal/external auditors
• Develop and review financial reports including month-end reports, footnotes, and accounting memos
• Lead and support accounting control functions such as inventory reserves, standard costing, and capacity analysis
• Conduct monthly variance analysis on inventory and cost of sales
• Support ERP upgrade activities (SAP to S/4 HANA) including system testing
• Drive process improvements, automation, and digital transformation initiatives
• Assist in SOP creation, process mapping, and training documentation

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 5+ years of experience in cost accounting and financial analysis
• Strong experience with SAP and S/4 HANA
• Solid understanding of US GAAP accounting principles
• Experience working in large enterprise environments (preferably Pharma/Life Sciences)
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• CPA certification and/or Big 4 experience
• Experience with intercompany accounting, foreign currency transactions
• Experience managing outsourced/vendor accounting teams
• Background in financial systems optimization or ERP implementations
• Prior experience in public companies or global organizations

Top 3 Must-Have Skills:

• Strong Cost Accounting experience (large enterprise / pharma preferred)
• Hands-on experience with SAP & S/4 HANA
• Solid knowledge of US GAAP
