The Accounting Manager will oversee a team responsible for core accounting functions while partnering cross-functionally with finance, operations, and executive leadership. The successful candidate will bring a balance of strong people leadership, technical accounting expertise, and a willingness to roll up their sleeves to solve problems and support critical business initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals within a shared services environment.
- Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting deliverables.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and internal controls.
- Drive process improvements, standardization efforts, and automation initiatives to increase efficiency and scalability.
- Analyze financial results, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to leadership.
- Support audits, regulatory reporting, and requests from internal and external stakeholders.
- Partner with finance, operations, treasury, and other business units to resolve complex accounting issues.
- Assist with special projects, system implementations, acquisitions, and process transformation initiatives.
- Serve as a hands-on contributor during peak close periods and high-priority projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership experience.
- Experience managing teams in a shared services, centralized accounting, financial services, or large corporate environment.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Advanced proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Experience driving process improvements and operational efficiencies.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred.
- Experience in financial services, banking, lending, insurance, or other highly regulated industries.
- Background supporting large transaction volumes and complex accounting operations.
- Exposure to system implementations, process automation, or business transformation initiatives.
The salary range for this position is $85,000-$125,000.
