Accounting Manager

KBW is partnered with a client in the Augusta, Maine area, in their search for an Accounting Manager. The Accounting Manager will oversee core accounting functions and support the organization's financial reporting and operational needs. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of accounting processes, contribute to financial planning, and help strengthen internal procedures while collaborating with leadership and other departments.

The compensation range for this position is $100,000 - $130,000 DOE.

Responsibilities

• Oversee general ledger activities, account reconciliations, and monthly and annual close processes.
• Review financial statements and reporting to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Monitor accounting operations and help maintain consistent, efficient procedures.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to assist management with business decisions.
• Maintain compliance with applicable accounting standards and internal policies.
• Coordinate audit preparation and provide supporting documentation as needed.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, and internal controls.
• Collaborate with department leaders on financial matters, reporting needs, and special projects.
• Provide guidance and support to accounting staff as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience, including experience overseeing accounting processes.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, general ledger accounting, and financial reporting.
• Proficiency in Excel and experience with accounting software or ERP systems. Any system conversion or implementation experience is a huge plus.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and communicate effectively across departments.
• Prior supervisory experience and CPA eligibility are preferred.
