Accounting Director

Accounting DirectorBayside Church is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Accounting Director to join our mission-driven team. This dual role is vital to maintaining the financial integrity of our organization by ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing while supporting our general accounting operations. The ideal candidate brings both technical payroll expertise and nonprofit accounting knowledge, along with a passion for serving communities and advancing social impact.Key ResponsibilitiesIncome & ContributionsOversee the recording and reconciliation of all incoming funds, including tithes, offerings, donations, and event incomeEnsure timely and accurate posting of contributions to donor recordsMonitor and reconcile bank deposits and electronic giving platformsMaintain strong internal controls over cash handling and contribution processingGenerate periodic giving statements for members and donorsReconcile general ledger accounts related to incomeAssist with audits and provide documentation as neededSupervise accounting staff and/or volunteers involved in financial processesDevelop and maintain efficient accounting procedures and internal controlsIdentify opportunities to improve accuracy, efficiency, and transparencyAccounts ReceivableSupervise invoicing and collections for facility rentals, program fees, and other receivablesMonitor outstanding balances and follow up on overdue accountsMaintain accurate receivable reportsReconcile general ledger accounts related to receivablesEnsure proper documentation and reconciliation of all receivable transactionsPayroll AdministrationOversee payroll processing for all employees, ensuring accuracy and timelinessEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulationsManage payroll records, including salaries, benefits, and tax withholdingsCoordinate with HR on employee status changes, compensation updates, and benefits deductionsReview process changes (e.g., new hires, terminations, benefits, tax adjustments), and coordinate with HR as neededRecord payroll-related journal entries and reconcile payroll accounts monthlyMission Critical ExpectationsActively support and advance the mission, vision, core values, and strategic goals of Bayside Church.Maintain consistent, transparent, and professional communication with supervisors and staff.Model and uphold Bayside's Staff Culture & Values, Vision Statement, and Points of Accountability in all areas.RequirementsQualifications3-5 years+ of experience in payroll and accounting roles, preferably in the nonprofit sectorKnowledge of Federal and State payroll laws, multi-state payroll, and nonprofit accounting standards (e.g., fund accounting)Proficiency in payroll systems (e.g., Paylocity) and accounting software (e.g., Sage Intacct, Oracle NetSuite)Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlinesExcellent communication skills and a collaborative approachBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)BenefitsBenefit-rich Health & Dental Insurance Plans – Employer pays 100% of employee costGenerous Vacation and Sick-Leave policies403(b) with company match, Flexible Spending account, Life InsuranceFriendly and fun working environmentOpportunity for growth
